Quin Price Snyder was born on October 30, 1966, at Mercer Island, Washington.
As a high school player, he won the state championship and twice was player of the year. His team was ranked as number one in the US.
Many blue blood schools wanted to recruit a young star, but he decided to go to Duke University and play for Coach K. That turned out to be one of the best decisions of his life.
Where did Quin Snyder go to college?
He spent four seasons at Duke University (from 1985 to 1989), he was the point guard at Duke. In his sophomore season, he became a starter and team captain. During his tenure with the Blue Devils, he led the team to three Final Four appearances. Years with the Blue Devils shaped him into the man he wanted to be because at Duke, he learned the importance of hard work and dedication.

What college team did Snyder coach?
His first coaching job was at Duke, where after serving as an administrative assistant, he became an assistant coach in 1997. After three seasons with Coach K, he got his first head coaching job at the University of Missouri in 1999. Snyder managed to lead the Tigers to four consecutive March Madness and NCAA tournament appearances tournaments and one Elite Eight, the best result in school history.
Missouri Tigers were the biggest college sensation in his first years with the team, but after the initial years, things started to get worse, and in 2006, Coach Snyder resigned after six consecutive losses. It turned out that is his longest losing streak to this day.
Quin Snyder – Austin Toros
After complicated Missouri years, Snyder coached Austin Toros, a D-League affiliate for San Antonio Spurs. The Toros won 75% of its games and had more players called up for NBA games than any other team. Throughout the three seasons, he won over 60% of all games in the League. He won the Coach of the year award as a rookie coach, and many NBA general managers credited Snyder for pushing the right buttons in the correct positions. He was considered the most creative thinker among young coaches because of the amount of work he did studying other teams and other leagues and his attention to detail.

Quin Snyder – Philadelphia 76ers
The first NBA team to give him a chance was the Philadelphia 76ers. Doug Collins invited Quin Snyder to work with him as player development. When Collins was recruited as head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers in May 2010, he noted what Snyder had done with the Toros and reached out to him.
During the season, young 76ers have shown a lot of progress, and significant credits go to their player development coach.
Quin Snyder – Los Angeles Lakers
Quin Snyder joined the Los Angeles Lakers at the beginning of the season 2011-2012. Mike Brown saw his potential and thought he could help him coach some of the biggest stars in the League.

Kobe Bryant called Quin Snyder a unique coach because of his work ethic and excellent coaching skills. Ettore Messina, generally regarded as the best European basketball coach, was one of the assistants that year. Snyder and Messina shared a lot of similarities as coaches, and they have built a strong relationship during that season. As Lakers assistant coach Snyder learned how to handle the pressure and stay calm in stressful situations.
Lakers finished the year at the Western Conference semi-finals after the strange and short lockout season. That opened an entirely new chapter of his life and the first coaching job outside the United States of America.

Quin Snyder – CSKA Moscow
Next year Ettore Messina convinced Quin Snyder to spend a season in Russia coaching European powerhouse team CSKA Moscow.
Messina commented: “He was my highest level employee. He has a unique ability to be analytical quickly and react quickly as well”.
During that season, CSKA has reached Euroleague Final Four and has won all domestic competitions.
Snyder later admitted that European experience helped him expand his views and learn why Europe is constantly getting better. He was ready to get back to the NBA and, this time to stay there for a long time.

Quin Snyder – Atlanta Hawks
Coach Mike Budenholzer hired Snyder as his associate head coach for the NBA season 2013-2014.
Two coaches had a strong relationship back from the San Antonio days, where Bud was Gregg Popovich’s assistant coach, and Snyder was head coach of their development team. They tried to build a system and new culture in the franchise that was struggling in previous seasons. Season with the Hawks was crucial for Snyder’s coaching career because he was more than ready to take over the NBA team as a head coach.
Quin Snyder – Utah Jazz
In the summer of 2014, Utah Jazz General Manager Dennis Lindsey was looking for a new coach, and his first pick was Snyder. They knew each other from the Spurs day, where Lindsey was assistant general manager. One more time, Quin got a job based on his success with the San Antonio organization.

Each season under Snyder, Jazz was improving, and in 2018 their coach was a finalist for the Coach of the Year award. After that season, he signed a long-term contract extension with the team.
At the 2021 NBA All-Star game, Quin Snyder coached the Western Conference. Utah team had the best record in the NBA at that moment(23-5).
Till this season, Snyder has 336 wins as Utah Jazz head coach, and last season was the best when the team record was 52-20. Three times he was Western coach of the month(two times in the previous season).

In January 2021, he became the second-winningest coach in franchise history, passing Frank Layden. While Layden needed 571 games to get to 277 wins, Quin Snyder did it only 493 games as Salt Lake City.
One thing is missing for Snyder to become one of the best in the game: the championship ring. If he manages to bring Utah Jazz to glory, there will be no more doubts about his coaching knowledge.
Utah coach Quin Snyder’s offense has always been about creating an advantage. That advantage might be slight, like defender being a half-step late due to a screen that opens wider and wider as players attack, force help from a scrambling defense, and pass to a teammate with an even more significant advantage. Eventually, the result is a wide-open shot or easy layup.

Last season, the Jazz took 42 3s per game and hit on over 40% of them. The Jazz has taken the aspects of Snyder’s offense that have always been prevalent (ball movement, drives, the extra pass, screens) and charged it with quick shots and lots of 3s. The result is an offensive system that was averaging 118.9 per 100 possessions. Their offense was even better at Salt Lake City so nobody liked to be a Jazz guest.
What is Quin Snyder’s salary?
He is making $2 million per season with the Utah Jazz. His net worth is around $7 million.
Who is Quin Snyder’s wife?
Quin is married to Amy Snyder. They started dating back in 2006 and finally got married in 2010. Quin and Amy are proud parents of two children: Anika and Wyatt Snyder.
Amy is his second wife. He was married to Helen Redwine in 1999. The couple separated in 2006, and from this marriage, Quin has a son, Owen.
